OSSC member and current Treasurer T. Scott Rowe will be presenting a poster at the upcoming joint Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmolog/International Society for Imaging in the Eye (ARVO/ISIE) May 1st, 2010. The poster, entitled "Progress Report on Building an Anatomically Correct Solid Eye Model with Volumetric Representation of Retinal Morphology" builds on work presented at the SPIE BIOS conference in January.
Abstract: Accurate solid eye model (with volumetric retinal morphology) should have many applications in the field of ophthalmology including evaluation of ophthalmic instruments as well as optometry/ophthalmology training. In this presentation we present a method that uses volumetric OCT retinal data sets to get anatomically correct representation of three dimensional (3D) retina layers. This information is than exported to laser scan system to recreate it within solid eye recreating retinal morphology of the eye used in OCT testing. To test the accuracy of this method we plan to compare the OCT volumetric data sets scanned into the solid eye model with those acquired from a subject’s retina.
