Most of his professional life however has been spent in electrical engineering and materials science related assignments. After graduating from UC San Diego with a B.A. in Applied Physics and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, he worked at Hughes Aircraft Company in Torrance on traveling-wave tubes and GaAs field-effect transistor circuits.
