Junior Optical Test Engineer

We are looking for a Junior Optical Test Engineer at SiLC Technology in Monrovia CA.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Characterize LIDAR systems developed at SiLC 
  • Perform characterization of laser beams with a beam profiler/camera  
  • Inspect optical components for pass or fail against test specifications 
  • Prepare technical reports, summarize results, and recommend solutions to technical issues 
  • Generating test data in MS EXCEL, MS Word and other computer systems in an organized manner and then present the data to engineers. 
  • Work with Engineers for continual improvement in quality and productivity of the test operations 
  • Create work instructions and test procedures as required. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s or Masters degree in science/engineering  
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Python/Labview coding 
  • Working knowledge of typical laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers 
  • Basic knowledge of Windows computers and software 
  • Interest and ability to work with experimental set ups in a lab/pre-production environment 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience with test beds involving optics/electronics 
  • Experience with optical testing instruments such as beam profiler, power meters, spectrum analyzers 
  • Knowledge and experience of standard Photonics tools and equipment including lasers, detectors, lenses, and beam scanners.  
  • Opto-mechanical knowledge  
  • Experience with using and handling of optical fibers 
  • Knowledge of software packages such as SolidWorks, Zemax
