About the Role
We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of precision mechanical and opto-mechanical assemblies, mounts, and positioning systems. This role spans the full product lifecycle — from concept and design through prototyping, testing, and production support — working closely with optical, systems, and manufacturing engineers. We're looking for someone energetic and eager to jump into a wide variety of projects, bringing enthusiasm to solving new problems as they come up.
What You'll Do
. Create and maintain detailed drawings, tolerances, and BOMs for manufacturing.
. Provide customer support for mechanical components and assemblies.
. Design mechanical components and assemblies (housings, mounts, positioning stages, mechanisms) using 3D CAD.
. Build and test prototypes; support design verification and validation activities.
. Work with manufacturing and quality teams to resolve design and build issues.
. Support new product introduction from concept through production release.
. Maintain engineering documentation and support engineering change processes.
. Own and process ECOs (Engineering Change Orders), and support quotation activities for custom products.
. Support the Quality Assurance department regarding inspection and final test requirements as needed.
What We're Looking For
. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
. 0-5 years of relevant design experience — new graduates with strong fundamentals are encouraged to apply.
. Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or similar).
. Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, tolerance stack-up, and mechanical design principles.

. Familiarity with common machining, fabrication, and assembly processes (experience utilizing CNC
equipment is a plus)
. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
. Ability to work cross-functionally with optical, electrical, and manufacturing teams.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
. Experience designing and/or aligning precision or opto-mechanical assemblies.
. Exposure to Finite Element Analysis, ZeMax/Code V, or other simulation tools.
. Experience with prototyping and hands-on build/test.
