Abstract:
Sensitic Technologies is a small engineering and custom sensor development company located in Pasadena. The team which comprises Sensitic has extensive experience in development of instruments and sensors for NASA and DOD. The core team has a scalable workforce to draw upon which is comprised of over twenty scientists and engineers with extensive civil, defense and commercial aerospace experience. This very richly diverse set of skills includes design and analysis as well as fabrication, assembly and alignment of cutting-edge optical instruments.
This talk will cover some of the hardware and development activities at Sensitic. The instruments described will include high-resolution spectrometer, a UV viewing telescope, and a holographic microscope. The capabilities of each instrument will be described. In particular, we the talk will highlight some of the key engineering aspects including optical, mechanical, electrical and software capabilities of the team. .

Bio:
J. Kent Wallace is an optical engineer/scientist at JPL where he has worked for the past thirty years. He received his BS from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, his MS from the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester and is pursuing his PhD at the University of Arizona. He has worked primarily in the area of exoplanet detection and has built instrumentation for Palomar, Keck and Gemini observatories. He has also developed technologies for advanced wavefront sensing including the Zernike wavefront sensor which has demonstrated sub-picometer (!) precision. His most recent work has included development of techniques for detecting and characterizing bacteria in extreme environments.
