OSSC Fellow
OSSC President, 2013-2014

- Martin Hagenbuechle -

Martin Hagenbuechle was born and grew up in the Southwestern corner of Germany, close to Austria and Switzerland.  After he received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Konstanz, Germany, he took a position as a postdoctoral research associate at California State University in Long Beach.  About 20 publications document his research in laser light scattering of complex fluids.  In 1997 he returned to Germany for one year to work as research associate at the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Micro Integration in Berlin.  Afterwards, Martin worked for Newport Corporation in Irvine during the telecom/fiber optics craze as a technical lead in photonics packaging development.  He left Newport in 2001 and joined Northrop Grumman Space Technology, formerly TRW, where he holds the position of a staff engineer.  At Northrop he has been heavily involved in opto-electronic packaging and more recently in the thermal analysis of spacecraft electronics.  His professional interests are in photonics, fiber optics, opto-electronic packaging, and medical physics.  Regarding his nomination as a councilor, he says: "I am honored to be considered as a candidate for councilor of the OSSC. And I am looking forward to get the opportunity to serve OSSC and to give back to the community that has nurtured me in past years."
