Mark Bandhauer got his M.S. in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona and B.S. in Applied Physics from Caltech. He is retired from Bausch & Lomb, except for contract work on optical systems at Newport Corporation. He was Principal Engineer, Optical Systems, at B&L Surgical, having worked in ophthalmology R&D since 1992 at a total of four of their locations, and also at AMO - Advanced Medical Optics, now part of Abbott. He also has experience in optics and lasers at Optics 1, Kaiser Electro-Optics, Ford Aerospace, and McDonnell-Douglas.
Mark began OSSC service in 1987. He served as President in 1999-2000 and held various positions in seven of the intervening years, separated by time in graduate school. Mark says "Now married with two children, I thought I'd skip a lot of meetings after my last year as an officer; but I enjoy the topics and my friendships with OSSC members so much that I attend almost every month".
